Greetings, Groupies, and Groceries - Oh My! #burritobeat2015 Days 65,66,&67

DAY 65 - Greetings

Dancing Queen's mystery man flew in from New Jersey to meet the family. Prince Charming hails from a much more urban area of this fabulous country and he was slightly shell shocked at the lack of skyscrapers and noise pollution. I sure do love the Midwest!

Day 66 - Groupies

Give me a beer and some live country music and my Saturday night is made. Yee Haw! I became a quick fan of up and comer Drew Baldridge not only because his voice is reminiscent of Josh Turner but also because he takes the time to pose for a photo op with a Mexican wearing flannel and cowboy boots.

DAY 67 - Groceries

I remembered why I never go grocery shopping on weekends. My patience was truly tested in the frozen food aisle today. Don't mess with a woman on a mission for frozen cauliflower.  Shit gets real when you question my intelligence regarding the difference between it and broccoli. Seriously,  WalMart?

Lunch Date #burritobeat2015 Day 64

This pretty little lady made my lunch break much more giggly and sunshiney today.

Thanks for the apple slice smiles, CareBear and Pebbles!

New Trick #burritobeat2015 Day 63

Text message conversation with the babysitter......

Followed by.......

It really is evil. She's not kidding.

Lord please help us.

Bite the Bullet #burritobeat2015 Day 62

People let me tell you 'bout my best friend!

It's no hidden secret that I'm pretty tight with finances. I blame this on my bloodline. Brown Town Represent!

Have you seen the prices of baby food these days? I'm thinking it could very well be possible that there is a 100% markup on a 2.5oz jar of bananas.  I refuse to give in to the man.

This means several evenings are spent in the company of my BFF - the baby bullet. Is it worth it? Ask my bank account.

Word of the Day #burritobeat2015 Day 61

Today's post brought to you by the word.......

Setting: Grand Puba and Daisy Duke's Kitchen

Decor: Early American Garage Sale

Discussion: Ordering Dinner Meals

Open Scene.

Mimi: "They have Pork Ragout"
(pronounced phonetically as in Rag.Out.)

muffled laughter

Grand Puba: "It must only be offered one week out of every month."

roaring laughter

End Scene.

Who knew my father-in-law was a a stand up comedian? He should take that show on the road!

P.S. It's pronounced "ragu"

Live, Love, Laugh #burritobeat2015 Days 58, 59, & 60

Three days in a row of Mommy/Burrito quality time.

This girl.......

When our time together wasn't consumed with slinging back glasses of wine, pillow fights, and laughing the day away...........

Mom did 7 loads of laundry, dusted bedrooms, sorted closets, got crafty thanks to Pinterest, and finished a good book.

Bobbie Burrito took a nap and then rested up for another nap.

Must be rough.

#burritobeat2015 Days 55 & 56

Look out world!

We spent the last two days at the DMV licensing another driver in the house. Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing some issues with road rage. Bobbie Burrito inherited the angry driver gene from her not-so-calm father and refuses to let off the horn once she gets behind the wheel. Her puppy brothers are also less than amused with her lack of turn signal usage as they have felt the trauma of a few fender benders. State Farm call center is going to stay busy with this child on the road!

Sidenote: Moments like this make me realize in 15 short years we really will have to fear for the safety of all other drivers as Bobbie Burrito will legally be in the driver seat. Let's hope she experiences a vertical growth spurt by then or we will also be investing in pedal extensions.

#burritobeat2015 Day 54

Hey Mommy friends - any teething tips?

I'm dying over here!

Bobbie Burrito and I may have had a combined total of 4.5 hours of sleep over the past three nights. People keep telling me a little whiskey will help so I plan on doing a couple shots before bedtime tonight.

#burritobeat2015 Day 51

Quiz:
How many grandparents does it take to strap a baby in a high chair?

Answer:
2 (on a good day)

Daisy Duke and Grand Puba have mastered the art of team parenting raising 5 of their own and continue to showcase those skills for their grandchildren.

#burritobeat2015 Day 50

What's that? I can't hear you over the sound of my teeth chattering.

#burritobeat2015 Day 49

Woman Crush Wednesday!

Shoutout to all these tias! What fabulous role models for our little Bobbie Burrito......keep it classy ladies!

#burritobeat2015 Day 48

20 by 29.......

My new motto when I go for that dessert at the work potluck or try to raid the pantry at 3 am when Bobbie Burrito thinks it's a completely appropriate time to be awake. My goal is a 20 lb weight loss by the time I turn 29 on May 9th. Totally reasonable but not without effort and motivation. 20 by 29. The countdown is on.

#burritobeat2015 Day 47

Love is a four legged word.

Every child needs a dog and every dog needs a child. There is an unspoken bond between Bobbie Burrito and her puppy brothers. They support, protect, and entertain one another. Watching them interact melts my puppy lovin' heart. I will never have to fear that my daughter will never experience limitless love because I know she already has.

#burritobeat2015 Days 44 & 45

Sergeant Bob has been blessed with two valentines this year - a smokin' hot wife (not pictured) and this little cutie above. P.S We officially have enough hair for a pony tail!

Day 1 of swim lessons started with an outside temperature of 4 degrees and windchill below zero. What was I thinking?! Bobbie Burrito and I bundled up in our winter gear and made the trek to the pool. Minus the awkward singing and ridiculous water version of the hokey pokey, playtime in the pool was a success. Our little fishy giggled her way through 30 minutes of splashing fun. Mom even got an extra workout in trying to put on a swimsuit again. I tried to pull off the sweat as pool water. I don't think the other moms bought it. P.S.S. Pictures of lessons will be shared next week when yours truly is on the other end of the camera.

#burritobeat2015 Day 43

Dinner date with Mom and Dad! Mealtime was preceded by the decision-making process of purchasing hard wood flooring and walking away from the store with much lighter pockets. We hope you enjoyed dinner out on the town, Bobbie Burrito, because the family will be living off of Ramen noodles indefinitely. Sidenote - who wants to volunteer to help a few novice homeowners with a not so little flooring project? We pay in beer, pizza, and hugs.

#burritobeat2015 Day 42

Don't go getting any ideas........

We were FINALLY able to visit with the newest addition in the family of our padrinos de lazo. Between the proud loving parents, super awesome big brother, and tiny perfection I'm holding above, the amount of adorable in this family is seriously off the charts. Bobbie Burrito is only 7 1/2 months old, but I already can't fathom her ever being this little. Baby Parker may have just been showing off for his guests, but his actions from the day lead me to believe he might actually be one of the world's most perfect babies. Eat, sleep, poop, repeat with a rare peep of a whimper thrown in between. Thank you G family for letting us be a part of your happy little world for an evening. Instead of scheduling play dates for Bobbie Burrito and Parker in the future, I may be calling to set something up for Sergeant Bob and 2 year old Liam. The "best buds" seem to be maturing at the same rate!

#burritobeat2015 Days 39, 40, & 41

Day 39:
Sergeant Bob and I got to revisit our wedding venue for a little afternoon date. A viewing of American Sniper from the theater balcony made for the perfect Mommy/Daddy outing. Added bonus - Grandma Dirt manages said movie theater. Can you say free popcorn? Sergeant Bob sure can.....two large popcorn bags of thanks to Grandma Dirt for free babysitting services!

Day 40:
Bobbie Burrito closet overhaul. We are officially wearing 9mo onesies now - mostly for width rather than height. Family genes are NOT in her favor. It's cute now.....I'm avoiding telling her that will wear off eventually.  Shout out to the Mrs. And CareBear for basically supplying Bobbie's entire wardrobe for her first year of life.

Day 41:
Supplies for winter swim lessons have been purchased. Bobbie Burrito cannot wait to splash her little heart out and though swimsuits this time of year are pretty slim pickings, we were able to ensure she will look mighty adorable in her pink tutu while she does it. Big Boca Bob on the other hand had different purchases to make to prepare for the dreaded day........

#burritobeat2015 Days 35 & 36

I have reason to believe that our child might actually be a mermaid. Many of you may doubt the reality of the mythical being but the combination between my childhood obsession with a redheaded Disney princess and Bobbie Burrito's evening bath time routine leads me to believe otherwise. This girl is obsessed with the water! Last night she spent over 30 minutes splashing in the tub (supervised of course!) laughing hysterically at literally nothing. Her prune-like skin serves as a timer for tub time and her laughter quickly turns to a temper tantrum the minute I remove her from her aquatic home.

Her thorough enjoyment of the water led me to do the unthinkable today......

We are officially signed up for swim lessons.

I sadly admit that self confidence regarding my appearance is at an all time low at this point in my life - HOWEVER - I refuse to let my embarrassment prevent me from making memories with my daughter. This is my definition of motherhood.

Do you think it's possible to drop about 50 pounds in a week? NO? Damn.

#burritobeat2015 Day 34

Feliz Cumpleanos Tia CareBear!

To a woman who defines selflessness - an amazing woman with the power,  mind, and strength to tackle every obstacle in this crazy beautiful life. CareBear - it is my prayer that you go to sleep every night with the realization that you are every bit worth the blessings God has given you. The blessing of a house filled with loads of laundry, weeknights consumed with dinner making and doctor's visits, sleepless nights preparing for the stress of the day ahead, and the blessing of endless love from two tiny beings who call you Mommy.

You never cease to amaze me by simply being you.

We love you CareBear. You deserve the happiest of birthdays and so much more.

#burritobeat2015 Day 33

Feeling a little under the weather.....A spike in temperature at about 2am led to a snuggle day with Mom. A good cuddle and appropriately timed dosages of Tylenol (grape flavored for this little diva in training) seem to be doing the trick and we are hoping to be back to our bubbly, spirited self by morning. If not - well I suppose I can find the time to sneak in some more sweet baby snuggles.

#burritobeat2015 Days 31 & 32

My winter storm emergency kit used to contain two essential items: beer and ice cream. These also happen to be the two primary reasons I have this rockin' body. As Bobbie Burrito and I were out and about gathering necessities for the predicted Snowmageddon, I realized my priorities have somewhat shifted within the last 7 months. My winter storm emergency kit now contains three essential items: beer, ice cream, and diapers. Times they are a changin'.........

The weather man's crystal ball was somewhat accurate for a change and the snow fell continuously through the weekend. Bobbie Burrito and I enjoyed Super Bowl Sunday snuggled up on the couch in our pjs. Her puppy brothers, however, chose the great outdoors rolling around in their own little snow white haven.

Anybody want to come over around 4am tomorrow and shovel the drive before I head to work? I pay in enchiladas and high fives.

#burritobeat2015 Day 30

Double Trouble!

My babysitter is better than your babysitter for the following reasons:

When I'm having a rough day at work, she sends me super adorable pictures like the one above of Bobbie Burrito and her bestest friend. I hope these two remain besties for life as there is no greater feeling than having a best friend just down the street to share secret adventures with. I look forward to watching them grow together.

She has an amazing heart and honestly, truly, whole-heartedly cares about our little girl and treats her like one of her own. If I can't be there to cuddle her when she cries, it makes my heart happy knowing there is another mom who can.

Today, when I picked up Bobbie Burrito, she packed me a carryout bag containing homemade cheesecake, New Glarus pumpkin beer, and a home brewed alcohol concoction that is heaven on my taste buds.

We really should start paying her more.

#burritobeat2015 Day 29

Henry Hugglemonster Is Back!

If you are unfamiliar with Henry's unfortunate disappearance,  please refer to #burritobeat2015 Day 7. This incident has made us realize that we are totally going to be "those" parents - the ones who run to the pet store in a frenzy before Bobbie Burrito gets home from school to replace the fish that went belly up in order to prevent a total meltdown. The kid will never notice, right? Totally true in the case of our dear friend Henry. The two have been inseparable since his return from "vacation". I spotted his four-legged friends giving him the evil eye from across the room but don't worry because Henry now gets his own room and is under law enforcement protection. Those furry paws don't stand a chance!

#burritobeat2015 Day 28

Feliz Cumpleanos Padrino Huracan!

In September of 2014, Bobbie Burrito was baptized into the arms and love of our Savior Jesus Christ and granted the gift of a godfather (padrino) to watch over her spiritual growth and offer advice/support when called upon. We picked someone who knows his spirits alright - vodka, gin, rum, and most importantly tequila. Ole! Advice and support you say? Life lessons Huracan may offer include how to impersonate a professional athlete to get free drinks and how to build the world's longest list of work experience on a resume.

Oh - and how to live life to the fullest, reach for the stars without looking back, and only share your heart with the people who truly deserve it.

We hope your day was everything you wanted and more, Tio Huracan. Bobbie Burrito is lucky to have you watching over her.

Love, The Bob's

#burritobeat2015 Day 27

Happy Birthday Sergeant Bob!

A daddy is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow. I may be a little biased but Bobbie Burrito has been blessed with a one of a kind role model. In 30 years he has accomplished more than most people do in a lifetime.  If you ask him his greatest of those accomplishments,  he will proudly answer the day he became a father. Cue the awwwwww's. This man lives for his family and on this day - the 30th anniversary of his birth - I want to shout from the rooftops how lucky I consider myself to share a home and a heart with him. Our little family's journey is just beginning and leading the way is a devoted, loving, sunshiney ball of fun. It took 30 years for Sergeant Bob to look this good. I'm afraid to see what happens in the next 30.

We love you Sergeant Bob - more than you will ever know! Feliz Cumpleanos!
